JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser System is using ultrasound energy to maximize absorption of your favorite skincare products, making them work more effective and much faster.
The system shows that the absorption rate of your skincare products is 3 times faster with JeNu. That’s making it ideal for reducing the appearance of deep wrinkles, fine lines, dryness, crow’s feet, brown spots, and redness.
Because of its effectiveness JeNu was “named a top 10 game-changing product to own in 2015 by Vogue,” while Forbes wrote “will change your beauty routine forever.”
You just need to use JeNu 1 minute per day, to bring much more of your skincare products into your skin.
If someone offered to boost the effectiveness of your current skincare products and the opportunity to save time every day, would you take them up on it? I think, you would!
But is the JeNu System able to “give your skincare a powerful boost”, or are that just promises that don’t work?
We’ll find out everything here.
First, we’ll take a deep look at how JeNu works.
JeNu Ultrasonic: One Minute, 3X the Absorption, 30+ Uses
According to the company, much of the skincare products you use haven’t got the possibility to absorb into your skin. You’ve got a big chance that your used serums and creams just evaporates or gets washed off. In other words, you’re losing much of their benefits.
To provide this, JeNu’s ultrasonic exclusive head pulses 365,000 times per second. This high energy is concentrated into their exclusive MicroSphere Conducting Gel, which “pushes the product into the skin, resulting in increased absorption.” So, by simply applying your skin care products with the JeNu System instead of your old technique, “you’ll get 3X the absorption of those vital complexes, so you see better results faster.” And don’t forget, it only takes one minute!
Here’s how to use the JeNu Ultrasonic System:
- You need to apply your skincare product as you normally would.
- Squeeze a pearl-sized amount of the MicroSphere Conducting Gel onto the JeNu’s ultrasonic head, press the power button, and wait to feel a smooth vibration in the handle. From there, move the Infuser in a gentle circular motion over the area you would like to take care of, you might feel a slight warming sensation because of the ultrasonic energy.
- JeNu will automatically turn off after using it one minute. If you’d like to treat other areas, simply repeat this process. Once you’re finished using the System, simply wipe off any remaining product. Then clean the ultrasonic head with soap and water, and dry the device.
The Ultrasonic Infuser is a complete wireless device, so you don’t have to take care about any cords! You need to recharge the battery after 30+ uses, that’s quite good.
We’ve already talked about JeNu’s Conducting Gel a couple times. But let’s see what it is and do you really need it.
First of all, what is the JeNu’s MicroSphere Conducting Gel?
When you read the information from the JeNu website, you will see that the MicroSphere Conducting Gel is a key part of the System. So important, in fact, that we wondered how well the Infuser is working without the gel.
According to JeNu, their gel contains an exclusive formula with “special micro spheres that vibrate ingredients into your skin.” The company does not explain what exactly their micro spheres are, or how they improve energy conduction. But when you take a look to Wikipedia, you will see that micro spheres are “small spherical particles, with diameters in the micrometer range (typically 1 μm to 1000 μm (1 mm)).”
But there’s one big question: How do these micro spheres improve the absorption of your skincare products? This is where the information gets a little fuzzy. Here’s how the company explains it in their FAQ:
The gels micro spheres are the key to being able to use the JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser with any skin care brand. The micro spheres conduct the energy from the want to your skin and are necessary to maximize the benefits.
We’ve learned that the ultrasound waves, which are going trough these micro spheres “focus the energy into your skincare product.” Without them, this energy will pass right through.
But despite all this wordiness, it ultimately provides little insight into how important it is for the Infuser’s results. And perhaps most importantly, whether or not, you need it in the first place.
MicroSphere Conducting Gel’s Ingredients
Thankfully, JeNu provided a list of ingredients which are part of the Conducting Gel. The main parts are water, Bis-PEG-8 Dimethicone, propanediol, and glycerin.
PEG-8 is a popular skincare ingredient that acts as a skin conditioning agent, while glycerin is a moisturizer. There are 3 different forms of propanediol. The propanediol 1,2-Propanediol (also known as propylene glycol) is the most common one in beauty treatments. Regardless though, it’s simply another skin conditioning product.
What about that is important to us? Although the secret technology about the micro spheres in the Conducting Gel, or how this improves the Infuser’s effectiveness, all the other ingredients seem fairly mundane.
For our understanding, we got in touch with the JeNu’s customer service department (they were very friendly and helpful) and requested an information about their clinical studies. After a short time we received an email from Dan Obegi, JeNu’s CEO and President.
Here’s what he told us about the MicroSpheres:
“The way the micro spheres are working is a bit technical, so we don’t try to cover it in depth on the website. But technically ultrasound needs a medium to pass through so it will pass through any gel and human tissue until it hits something hard like a bone or something with a very low density like air. The form of the micro spheres we use is irregularly so microscopic air bubbles attach to imperfections. Under ultrasonic pressure the air bubbles are released into the gel and because they’re so much less dense than the gel or skin care cream/ serum they vibrate more violently than the solution they’re in.
It’s this oscillation happening on the top of the skin that carries the topical skin care product into the skin. Without the micro spheres or other diffused air bubbles the energy would pass through the topical transferring the energy in the tissue then bone. The air bubbles act like sails that catch the ultrasonic pressure.”
What else did we learn in the process?
Is the JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser Safe?
JeNu gave us the information that the Infuser has been tested in seven independent studies involving over 200 products from more than 80 different brands, among 160 ethnically diverse women between the ages of 30 and 67. This are the results:
- 90% of women claimed it made their existing products work much better.
- 80% said they felt more confident after using it for the first time (2X more than those who didn’t use JeNu).
- Another 80% said that they experienced faster results
We do know that the tests come from an independent company named The Benchmarking Co, but we don’t know that much about everything else.
CEO and President Dan Obegi provided again some useful insight when he mentioned that “… our Benchmark study is an independent consumer perception study of 160 women rather than a clinical.” What that means is that it’s a user satisfaction survey, not a default clinical trial.
However, we got copies of some recent clinical studies in his email, here some key facts:
- A study from march 2015 completed by (ISRI) of 30 females age 18-65. Each participant received one treatment with the JeNu device and the Conducting Gel. Measurements were taken to gauge absorption right before the treatment and immediately after.
The scientists concluded that “use of JeNu Ultrasound Wand and Conductive Gel led to significantly more absorption of both topically-applied products investigated in this study, as confirmed through two absorption assay methodologies by examining fluorescence and active ingredient concentration.”
It appears that these results were preliminary. The study noted: “PRELIMINARY RESULTS ARE NOT FINAL: The data included in this document is for informational use only, no data issued prior to the final signed report should be considered as final and should not be used to make published claims.”
Is the ultrasound therapy save? According to Dr. Sonia Batra (JeNu’s Lead Medical Adviser), ultrasound technology has been used in medicine worldwide for more than two decades. It’s “completely safe for at-home cosmetic skin care use.”
What Kinds of Results Are Customers Achieving with JeNu?
It doesn’t matter wherever you turn, it seems like the JeNu Infuser System comes with high marks from customers.
On RealSelf.com, JeNu had 20 customer reviews, with 95% claiming that it’s worth it. Most compliments referenced solid results, ease of use, and that it improved the effectiveness of other skincare products.
Until now 63 Amazon customers gave the JeNu System an average rating of 4.3 stars, with many of the same compliments. Unlike on RealSelf though, some Amazon customers complained that they didn’t experience any results, and that their device stopped working after a short time. Unfortunately, the customers couldn’t receive a replacement because they were outside the warranty period when this occurred.
On DermStore.com, the JeNu System had a 5-star rating. There, most customers reported about the positive results, although the most common complaint was failure to work.
So the most customers seems to be very happy with their JeNu.
JeNu Ultrasonic: Effective Skincare Device, Or an Ultra Ripoff?
If you’re looking for some similar system to the JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser, there doesn’t appear to be any medical, professional ultrasonic device out there quite like it. And despite its relatively high price, most customers seem to have experienced positive results.
The device was even reviewed in Vogue and Forbes, and was featured on the popular Dr. Oz TV show. If you feel like giving it a shot, JeNu seems to stand behind their product with a 30-day refund policy. That even includes return shipping! Ultimately this means you can give it a try without any risk because of the 30 days refund. Also, it’s important to note that the company seems to be very accessible, open, and honest. So if you have any questions, we’d strongly recommend giving the company a call, the customer service is good.
