Review of the Bose SoundSport Free Headphones

Bose SoundSport Free Headphones Review

The Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Sport Headphones can safely be called the future of wireless earbuds. The concept adopted is the best so far and they stay firmly in the ear while creating an amazing sound experience for the user. Though pricey at $250, keeping the price aside and focusing on the value and quality of the earbud, one can easily overlook the price once they have a direct feel for the quality of sound rendered by the device. They make a good pair of earbuds while working out in the gym, are very comfortable, sound excellent and pairing is almost seamless.

Sound Quality

Bose Headphones 10
The SoundSport Free offers some of the best audio quality from an earbud of its category; they even beat the Apple AirPods in our test and when focused on sports, at low to medium volumes, the headphones offer a good amount of situational awareness which is very important for cyclists, runners, people working out in the gym, etc.

The call quality is great as one can clearly hear and be heard even in crowded locations. The sound is surprisingly clear and detailed for a wireless earbud, and the overall character of the sound is unmistakably made by Bose – well shaped for a lively and bold signature that really makes your music experience stand out. With all this in mind, I really like the way the SoundSport Free sounds and I think Bose is absolutely beating its competitors in this particular regard.

Design and Looks

The Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Headphone comes with series of buttons that are built on the earcups themselves. These buttons include the volume controls, a button for pairing the earbuds with a Bluetooth device and a multi-function button that accepts and declines calls incoming calls, interacting with Siri or Google Now and also controls the audio one is playing at the moment. Just as the name implies, these headphones were made with athletes in mind, to help them survive exposure to the rain and sweat. They come with an IPX water-resistance rating, which is nice… but maybe don’t wear them in the shower. Their silicon tips are well designed to stay in during heavy activity too. No amount of jogging or head-banging would shake them out of my head.

Battery life and ease of connectivity

Using Bose’s Connect+ app, setting up the Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Headphone was simple. Just take the buds out of the charging case and they’ll automatically enter pairing mode, open the app, and drag to connect them. I do sometimes have to do the app step twice for whatever reason, but it always ends up working after the second try. Once you’ve done that, you’re good to go.

During my testing, I also had no issues at any point with the two earbuds not connecting to one another or signal cutting out on only one earbud. The SoundSport Free had excellent connection quality and range – I was able to get a full twenty feet away from them with my Pixel 2 XL without interrupting the stream. That’s very good. I also didn’t have to keep my phone in a specific pocket for them to work reliably.

  • Perfect about the Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Sport Headphones is the comfort, and excellent sound experience, their nearly unflappable Bluetooth reception, water resistance, easy-to-use controls, and brilliant sound. We feel that these are an awesome pair of earbuds everyone needs to have coupled with a dependable battery life, but however

  • If I must say is the price. $250 is pricey, and even though it has a lot of awesome features to make one overlook the price, it is still an expensive piece. Secondly, it does not sync well with videos.
My Resume:

I therefore think the Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Sport is an awesome headphone that is built for athletes and casual users. I can recommend the headphones, the price is not low but quality has its price.

    hi, nice review!
do you know something about the sound quality? Is the sound much better than the sound of the apple headphones, for example?

    thx, sarah

      Hi Sarah,

      thank you for your comment.
The sound quality of the Bose headphones is in my opinion just a bit better than the headphones from Apple. Primarily, the headphones are made for sports activities. If it is only about the sound, the additional cost for the headphones is too high, but if you want to wear the headphones while you are doing sports, then they will be perfect for you.
